Hero Worship

As wonderful as I think Jordan is, he has an even bigger fan in my 10-month old sidekick. He literally spends his days awaiting Jordan's next joke.

But as exciting as it is to hang out with dad, sometimes he wears Jamester out. :)

Puffs are Magical

(to the tune of puff the magic dragon)

Puffs, the magic snack food, taste so good.
Magical in the way they improve my every mood!

Bananas, sweet potatoes, doesn't matter to me,
when I'm grumpy or upset, just give my Puffs to me.

Mommy says they're empty calories,
but I don't care about that.

Anyways, who's she to preach,

Have You Heard About the Morgans?

James has a new girlfriend! We spent the most fun day with Courtney and Rebecca in Chicago yesterday at Millennium Park and the zoo. Rebecca and James are about three months apart and they loved playing together. Courtney is the dearest, sweetest friend and we are so thrilled to be living just a couple hours away from each other now!

Day at the Museum

This week, we hit up the Field Museum, which is home to the world's largest and most complete T Rex named Sue. It was packed but very cool. Her head weighs 600 pounds and has to be displayed in a separate case.

In other news, James is now the proud owner of his first pair of shoes: some little velcro Sperry boat shoes so he can match his dad and uncle. Since he wants down at every opportunity, we thought it was time for some shoes!!

Showing off for Mia and Leelee

As the NFL is in pre-season, I thought it fitting to get James started on some workout drills. He can do 4 flights in a row, but he gets too tired to do a fifth. - Jordan

Enjoy.

Little Radio Flyer

The Campbell house was quiet this week while James and I were both sick and Jordan took his finals. Even though it was just a little cold, it was definitely the sickest that James has been in his little life; he was so pitiful when he couldn't breathe while he had his paci in his mouth! Yesterday, though, we were all feeling better and we caught James in action as he was tottering up and down our courtyard on his favorite little walker that my sweet mom gave him.

Chicago Air and Water Show

We spent Sunday afternoon with dear friends watching the Chicago Air and Water Show. My friend from Tuscaloosa Academy (Go Knights!), Kacy Benefield, graciously hosted us atop her beautiful Lincoln Park hotel/apartment building. It was a great show and lovely afternoon!

James with our sweet friend from Vandy, Dustin Worley

Our lovely host for the day - Please note James' outfit as football season starts up soon - Roll Tide Roll!

Weekly Highlight

One of our favorite parts of the week is story time at the Evanston Public Library. James adores the 30 minutes of singing, clapping, reading and playing with little friends. Our friends Dave and Allie joined us with their little girl, Jada, with whom we do so many fun activities in and around Chicago. It is adorable to watch how excited James and Jada are to see each other every day and story time was no exception.

First Cubs Game

We took James to his first Cubs game yesterday. Jordan told him that the Astros weren't playing, but he wanted to wear his jersey anyway. James loved every minute of the game...especially when the crowd clapped. His new favorite trick is clapping so he loved joining in with the cheers. Unfortunately, the Cubs are terrible and were no-hit through six innings but we had fun regardless.

WWTBCD

(What Would the Barefoot Contessa Do??)

We have been cooking up a storm in the Campbell house lately! The reasons are threefold: 1) James is so into finger foods right now that I have made him every vegetable you can think of and cut it up into tiny pieces so he can proceed to dump it in his lap; 2) to save some dough while Jordan's in B School; and 3) because it is something so fun that we both enjoy doing together. A few recipes we have made lately are Nancy Lisenby's Sweet and Sour Ribs (yum...) and the Barefoot Contessa's gazpacho and peach crisp. Click on the links for some delicious food.

Sweet and Sour Ribs a la Nancy Lisenby
Buy a rack of pork baby back ribs...

1. Cut the ribs apart and then brown them in a skillet on the stove in garlic and olive oil
2. Place the ribs in a pan and pour sauce mixture all over the ribs. I usually turn the ribs to make sure they're all covered. Cover the pan with a tight lid. I just cover really well with aluminum foil...they need to be sealed well. Cook at 350 for one hour.

sweet and sour sauce:
6 Tbsp. brown sugar
3 Tbsp. soy sauce
3 Tbsp. rice vinegar
3 Tbsp. cooking sherry

Chicago Architecture Boat Tour

Jordan took these fabulous photos on our boat tour of the Chicago River yesterday with Papa and Mia Campbell. James enjoyed the tour but was chattering away while the poor tour guide was trying to narrate the scenery!
